This week I was able to meet Ariel Maldonado. Ariel is a fourth year student at California State University of Long Beach. She will be getting a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics this year. She became interested in art during a high school ceramics class and has been hooked ever since. She would like to pursue different artist residencies around the world before settling down and eventually move up that way.
Ariel had about seventy pieces placed in the Holiday Gift Sale ranging from wall designs, bowls, vases, and succulents. She used calm and soothing colors that matched her simple, yet creative pieces.
All of the pieces that she created took her a week to compete and most of them are pieces that she has made before, because she is comfortable making them. She was proud of her pieces and how they came out of the fire kiln.
I really enjoyed the succulent plants that Ariel had for sale in the little pots because they were so cute and could easily be used for decoration. All of her pieces seemed to be made with delicacy and care and I admire her for that. She used one week and was able to come up with seventy different pieces and that is crazy!
